Hotel Security Management
The HSM is a non-profit foundation established in 1990 as an association by security managers from various Amsterdam hotels. Its primary goal remains valid today: to combat the increasing crime rate in hotels by identifying perpetrators and exchanging information. In 2007, the association acquired a new board, and since then, it has worked closely with the Royal Dutch Hospitality Association (Koninklijke Horeca Nederland) and the Dutch Police. In 2019, following member approval, the association became a foundation with a supervisory board. More than 160 hotels have since joined.
Hotels in the Netherlands can register and, after review by the HSM board, become subscribers to the foundation. They are then connected to the digital warning system. After reporting the crime to the police, they can report undesirable/criminal activity, after which all participating hotels in the relevant region receive an email alert. A link in the email allows them to view the alert on the HSM website. Two email addresses can be registered per hotel. This prevents perpetrators of unwanted/criminal activities from striking at multiple hotels. The warning website also shares other safety-related topics. The HSM website has been approved by the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
The HSM Foundation has become a well-known name in hotels in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and the surrounding area, and is expected to become so throughout the Netherlands in the future. For more information, please contact us by email.
